As you can see in the list above, Pisces was the “worst” star sign for serial killers. In this list, 11.8% of serial killers were Pisces. This zodiac sign was followed closely by Scorpio and Sagittarius, both of which were 10.56%. Meanwhile, Virgo is the sign that had the least amount of serial killers (4.97%). In a quest to figure outif there's a connection between serial killers and zodiac signs, Bustle researched America's most notorious murderers, such as Ted Bundy, Richard Ramirez, and David Berkowitz. From there, we expanded out to Canada, Europe, and beyond to include the likes of Robert Pickton and Rosemary West. In doing so, we created a list of the 25 biggest serial killers of our time, and then began looking into the zodiac signs.
In terms of the traits common among serial killers, many tend to 'be highly charismatic because they have learned and honed the fine art of magnetizing people,' Dr. Perpetua Neo, a clinical psychologist, tells Bustle. 'This is the spider web they weave to entice people,' get them to trust, and potentially let their guards down.
Other traits include a lack of empathy, Neo says, as well as an indifference towards cruelty. 'Cognitive empathy is the ability to put ourselves in someone's perspective, even if we cannot feel it,' she says, '[such as] when I describe something to you, and you understand why people act the way they do, and you respond appropriately. Serial killers often lack affective empathy.'
While it's not fair to say certain zodiac signs are more likely to commit murder, it is interesting to consider which signs cropped up most often on our list. Read on below for more about these famous serial killers, and their zodiac signs.
Topping our list of notorious serial killers was, rather surprisingly, the typically sweet and dreamy Pisces. This sign accounted for a whopping five out of the 25 killers, including big names like Dennis Rader, Aileen Wuornos, Donald Henry Gaskins, John Wayne Gacy, and Richard Ramirez.
Dennis Rader, born on March 9, 1945 and known as the BTK killer, was responsible for ten murders. In 2005, according to USA Today, he even admitted his plans to kill again, which doesn't sound very Pisces-like at all.
Aileen Wuornos, born on February 29, 1956, was another well-known American serial killer. She murdered six men, according to CNN, and was even the subject of the movie Monster starring Charlize Theron.
Donald Henry Gaskins, who was born on March 13, 1933, was convicted of nine murders. John Wayne Gacy, born March 17, 1942, killed at least 33 boys. And Richard Ramirez, famously known as 'the Night Stalker,' was born February 29, 1960 and went on to be convicted of 13 counts of murder, according to Biography.
Pisces, as mentioned above, is often referred to as the dreamer of the zodiac. This sign has a long list of positive qualities, including high levels of kindness, compassion, and intuition. But they are also known to be clingy, out-of-touch with reality, and self-pitying.
While this sign's kindness and compassion clearly wasn't at play when it came to the lives of Rader, Wuornos, Gaskins, Gacy, and Ramirez, it is interesting to consider why so many killers were born under the Pisces sign. Could it have something to do with the fact they're often out of touch with reality? Clearly, it's a combination of many factors, and may never be fully understood.
Gemini came in tied for second place on our list, with three well-known serial killers born under this sign. Among them was Peter Sutcliffe, who was born June 2, 1946 in England and became known as the 'Yorkshire Ripper.' This killer targeted women in the late 1970s after working jobs as a grave digger, factory worker, and door-to-door salesman.
Jeffrey Dahmer was also a Gemini, though he was born on the cusp on May 21, 1960, making him a bit of a Taurus, too. He was known for the brutal murder of 17 men, in spite of the fact he had a somewhat normal childhood — something that isn't always true for serial killers, who tend to have traumatic pasts.
Also on the Gemini list was 'Son of Sam' killer David Berkowitz, who was born on June 1, 1953. He murdered six people in New York City between 1976 and 1977, and according to Biography, launched a famous manhunt that finally led to his capture.
Many Geminis are known for being charming, which again is a trait that's quite common among serial killers, according to Neo. While being charming certainly doesn't predict whether or not someone will become a murderer, it is an interesting coincidence that the quick-witted and social Gemini landed on this list.

As for their weakness as a sign, Gemini is commonly considered to be two-faced, or a bit of a liar, which is another trait that seems fitting for a serial killer. If they're willing to lie or stretch the truth in order to get their way, they very well may have an easier time tricking their victims.
The three serial killers that fell under the sign of Sagittarius were Ted Bundy, Dennis Nilsen, and Rosemary West. Bundy was born November 24, 1976, and went on to admit to killing 36 young women across several states in the 1970s, according to Biography. He's also known for escaping from prison twice, and evading police until he was finally captured.
Nilsen, born November 23, 1945 in the UK, murdered men in the 1970s and 80s, as noted on BBC. And Rosemary West, born November 29, 1953, also from the UK, killed at least 10 young women, according to Biography.
Sagittarius is a sign that prizes freedom, and often seeks out adventure. Does that mean they all scratch that itch by committing murder? Of course not. But many have quite a few darker qualities, including being reckless and overly-confident. They also are known for lacking tact and empathy. If that factors into why some of the most notorious serial killers are Sagittarius, though, is anyone's guess.
Three big name serial killers, Gary Ridgway, Robert Hansen, and Luis Alfredo Garavito were all born under this sign, and went on to do some pretty atrocious things.

According to Biography, Gary Ridgway, born on February 18, 1949, was known as the 'Green River Killer' and was responsible for the deaths of at least 49 women in Washington state, before finally being captured in 2001.
Hansen, born February 15, 1939, was often referred to as the Butcher Baker, due to the fact he owned a bakery. And according to The Washington Post, he was convicted in 1984 after confessing to killing 17 women.
As for Garavito, he was born in Colombia on January 25, 1957, and went on to admit to the rape, torture, or murder of 140 children and teenagers, according to The Guardian.

Aquarius, on the one hand, is known forbeing an open-minded and fair sign, which you think would make someone compassionate and forgiving. But they also have a tendency to put themselves first, and do things without caring about anyone else's approval or advice. And that could take them in a very different direction.
